Week 5 reflection

Monday 5th of March,
Today Mr Moons' son, Lennon, came in for the day. He was shy at first but then he hung out with us. We discussed the new spelling routine and did lots of activities. After snack we had quiet reading and read another chapter of the Water Horse. Lennon handed out the books with the help of Elly. Then we had music as always but Lennon came with us and did some drawing. Lennon stayed in at lunch and played card games with KB, CBL, AG, ALG. We were loud! After lunch we had Level 4 sport. Our class did Discus. It was Lennon's first time doing discus and he did very very very well. Good job Lennon (hope your reading this too!).

Tuesday 6th of March,
In the morning, Mr Moons taught us how to use a dictionary (Nearly everyone knew how to use it though). We also played a dictionary game where we looked up a word and the first person who found it got 50 house points. Then we looked up awesome words that we don't use in everyday life like "willy-willy" (meaning tornado or dust storm). After that we wrote a story using the words we found in the dictionary. After snack we had computers. In computers we had to do a Maths test on Mathlectics. Then we came back and went to the gym and played chair ball. After lunch we had Girl/Boys Club.

Wednesday 7th of March
Today, we started of with Maths - Multiplying single digit numbers. The people who got 90% over in the Maths test at the start of the year did other things. Then we had Library. After snack we had 15-20 minutes of quiet reading before we began our Essential Question research. It was fun. We went into 6 groups (5 really, because 2 groups are doing the same subject). We had to think of questions around the main questions. After lunch we began a new game of Survivor. The group names are Smarty Pants, Da Geckos and Lollywood. GO LOLLYWOOD! :D

Thursday 8th of March
We started the day by talking about KONY 2012 and then about how teachers teach and student learn. It was a long talk! In computers we did a KWL chart about computer skills (KWL means what I KNOW, What I WANT to learn and what I have LEARNT). After that we read another Chapter of the Water Horse and updated out Mind Maps. After that, the Grade 6s had buddies and Grade 5 did Fantastic Friends.

Friday 9th of March
Today we did another routine of Maths (Multiplication) while some people did surveys about how Level 4 learn/teach.We then had our weekly Maths test. After that we finished off work and had Art. And after lunch we'll have Level 4 sport.
